A delegation of ten senior counter-terrorism specialists from the police departments of New York City, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Houston, Miami, and Montgomery County (MD) visited Israel October 16-23, 2010 to partake in a Project Interchange seminar. The week-long educational program showcased Israeli technological and operational advances in counter-terrorism tactics and offered the group of deputy chiefs, commanders, captains, and senior analysts an opportunity to exchange information on best practices with their Israeli counterparts.
On the agenda were discussions on countering the financing of terror operations and organizations, cutting-edge counter-terrorism technologies, and airport security. Several sessions throughout the week also addressed broader strategic issues, including Israel’s reaction to homegrown terrorism, security cooperation by the Israeli and Palestinian Authority defense forces, Israeli and Palestinian politics and society, and the peace process.
The program marked Project Interchange’s second seminar for counter-terrorism experts this year. The first, in September, was tailored for European counter-terrorism experts.
