With the generous support of the Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, Inc., Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Chair of the Subcommittee on Middle East and Central Asia, and Robert Wexler (D-FL), Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Europe, of the House International Relations Committee, co-chaired this Members of Congress Seminar to Jordan and Israel in early November 2004. The other participating Members of Congress were Rep. Steve Chabot (R-OH), Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL), Rep. Darrell Issa (D-CA), and Rep. Ted Strickland (D-OH). Highlights of this seminar included meetings with His Majesty King Abdullah bin Al-Hussein of Jordan, Prime Minister Sharon, Defense Minister Mofaz, and a dinner with U.S. Ambassador and Mrs. Daniel Kurtzer and invited Members of the Knesset. The Members of Congress hosted a dinner with journalists in Jerusalem. Other highlights included viewing the fence, visiting an absorption center and touring the new civilian border control at Gilboa.
