U.S. University Presidents - December 2017

With the goals of fostering technological innovation and boosting bilateral academic research and exchange opportunities, a delegation of presidents from top U.S. universities and colleges will visit Israel with AJC (American Jewish Committee) Project Interchange.

The university presidents will have a first-hand opportunity to explore academic collaboration, exchange ideas on innovation and learning and establish opportunities for bilateral collaboration. The university presidents will meet with their counterparts from Israeli universities and colleges, including Bar Ilan University; Ono Academic College; Shenkar College of Engineering, Design, and Art; the Technion Israel Institute of Technology, and the University of Haifa to discuss areas of mutual interest.

Discussions with Israeli and Palestinian government officials, academic, and civil society leaders will focus on high-tech innovation and entrepreneurship, diversity in Israeli society, coexistence programs for Israeli-Palestinian cooperation, the peace process, and Israel’s approach to humanitarian aid.
The seminar is intended to provide these policymakers with a first-hand understanding of Israel, its vibrant democracy, diverse society, and regional challenges. As part of their week in Israel, they will meet with and hear a variety of perspectives from Israeli, Palestinian, and Israeli Arab experts across the political and social spectrum. The delegation will also travel to Ramallah in the Palestinian Authority and meet with Palestinian experts.

Past seminars have resulted in innovative academic partnerships, including the Jacobs Technion-Cornell Institute, the University of California and Israel Innovation Authority Partnership, and the Miami-Dade College-Tel Aviv University MOU.
